What a WEEK!!

Between open house, homework, and an amazing basketball rematch, I'm surprised I'm awake to tell the tale. The open house was really fun. I highly recommend anyone interested in attending the university to come to one of them. All the Ambassadors dress up in our polos and greeted students with a big smile. Then they went into the Fine Arts Auditorium and had a presentation. The academic fair was last. This is where everyone got to see the different organizations and talk to professors  in their major. It was really fun and the students were all very enthusiastic.

As midterms looms on the horizon our work load gets bigger and bigger. I had a recent children's literature project. For this project we had to analyze a book and write a paper. As boring as that may sound it was actually pretty interesting!

Then finally there was the rematch of the year. Yes, we lost to St. Mary's the first time around, but not the second! Lest you think no UIW students showed up to St. Mary's, we had a whole section. Our school spirit was not stunted by the change of location. The only thing missing was our famous cardinal bird to help us cheer our basketball players on. He will be there for us next time though.

Well I must be off back to the books, but I hope you guys have a good rest of the week and a great weekend!

Back to school!!!!

Wow what a break! It was very restful and I'm ready for another semester. It feels very strange to come back to school after being gone so long. When I got back to UIW on Sunday I had to go to the store for some school supplies. When I came back it felt so weird. I felt like I should be walking through the front door of my house, instead of my dorm.  O well its all an adjustment and one always build strong friendships here. Before you know it you have a family away from your family.
It did not take long for things to pick up here at UIW. We already have a big game against St. Mary's (our biggest rival) on January 21. It is a big deal here, people paint themselves red and black. Its equally amusing  to watch the people as well as the game. We make sure we support our team in every way possible. Last year we won this game so hopefully we will be able to continue our winning streak!
I am really excited about this semester because I have just changed my major to English. It is hard, but I found out, after many major changes.., that English is really what I love to do. Choosing a major can be a tough thing, but never be afraid to try new things. It takes time to figure out just what it is you want to do. Now is the time to make your mistakes. Trust me I have changed my major 5 times. The people in the advising office know my name... But at least for now I am satisfied and ready for whatever this semester brings.
Well I must be off to bed. I just finished studying for a quiz tomorrow. I know its a bit crazy to have a quiz the first week, but I'm sure I will be better for it. Have a good day everyone and good luck with your college hunting!!

ahh.. fall break

I can hardly believe that it is almost the end of October! It seems like just yesterday that I was hauling my stuff into my room and trying to get all my books. This semester so far has been great though. I live in Hillside, which is awesome. Though, it can be a little challenging waking up 15 minutes before class instead of 2 minutes. I think I will survive though.
My classes have been challenging, but that is part of progressing through college. My fellow army cadets take chemistry with me so they are always making sure that I'm in class. It helps to take classes with friends, any kind of support system is good. They also like to get on my back about not going to PT, but sometimes 5am just isn't in the picture for my day.
I am a student ambassador and we just got back from our retreat. It was so fun. We went to concan, Texas and i thought that it would be kind of lame, but it wasn't. We stayed there for the weekend and  swam in the lake, played volleyball, and team building. It was a really good way to get all of the student ambassadors to bond together.  Being in an organization has opened up so many opportunities and the people are so awesome. I completely recommend being involved in one.
Well I think that I should probably go study for my chemistry test. Yes it is fall break, but I have to do what I have to do. Have a good weekend everyone!
