UIW vs. St. Eds

The UIW Cardinals basketball team is on a roll! We are still first in the conference so far.  The game was awesome last night and so many people showed up. The UIW students almost filled up every seat on the right side! The basketball team played really well too! They where making all kinds of layups and three pointers. In the second half one of our guys made a three pointer with only 10 seconds on the clock! That alone was worth going to see. Well I hope all of you are having a great day. I am going to go to class. Good luck college hunting!!

Back to School

After a long and enjoyable Christmas Break it is back to UIW! My first few weeks of classes have been busy. I have four classes on monday/wednesday and one on tuesday/thursday. Mondays are hard but when Tuesdays roll around it is all worth it! I love my classes. They are challenging but I am intersted in all my subjects.
I am going to start intermerial sports in Feburary! I am so excited! Baseball is first and then soccer is next. It is also going to be good exercise! Speaking of sports, our UIW men's basketball is FIRST in the championship! We recently beat our main rival, St. Mary's. I am so excited about this years sports events!
Well I am going to go do some reading for class, but I hope you guys have a great day and good luck college hunting!!!!!

Birthdays are SO fun!

Well, I am finally 21 and even though I am away from home, my birthday has been great. My sisters in my sorority decorated my room last night! It made me feel right at home. My facebook, as well, was packed with friends leaving messages. The is why I love UIW so much, because I have a family away from my family.
I just got a job at Bath and Body Works, my orientation is today! I am really excited. I will only be working ten hours a week, so it should not be that bad. It will be a good lesson in time management and it will be nice to have a little extra cash! Well as usual have a good week and good luck college hunting!!

Calling All Greeks!!!

There are many things that I love about being greek, but calling all Greeks is one of my favorites! Basically, all the sororities and the fraternities come together for a stroll competition. EVERYONE comes out, UTSA, Trinity, and Our Lady of The Lake, it is really fun. All the Greeks get to know one antoher and have a little friendly competition. The Delta Sigma Theta's stroll was awesome! As far as the boys go though, the Kappas rocked the house.  Next semester my soroirity, Alpha Sigma Alpha, are definitally going to compete! Well I have to go write a reflection paper, but as always have a good week and good luck college hunting!

Back to School!

Well, after a nice long break it is back to Incarnate Word. The first couple weeks have been awesome! Ambassadors and the Sorority started off right away. I was glad for this because it made me miss home less. There was a grand reunion of friends and sisters.  I love school, but I miss my friends the most.
Classes are good. I am excited about all my new English classes. Next week my integrated language arts class is going over to St. Anthonys to visit with the children. I love when my classes offer these kinds of fun opportunities. In my English Literature class we have already read two books! Things are moving fast, but it is exciting!
The first Overnighter is comming up this weekend. They are so fun! We have some awesome activties planned. Even though I am sad we are no longer playing laser tag, bowling will be a whole new adventure! I hope to see you guys there! Have a great week and good luck college hunting!

What a WEEK!!

Between open house, homework, and an amazing basketball rematch, I'm surprised I'm awake to tell the tale. The open house was really fun. I highly recommend anyone interested in attending the university to come to one of them. All the Ambassadors dress up in our polos and greeted students with a big smile. Then they went into the Fine Arts Auditorium and had a presentation. The academic fair was last. This is where everyone got to see the different organizations and talk to professors  in their major. It was really fun and the students were all very enthusiastic.

As midterms looms on the horizon our work load gets bigger and bigger. I had a recent children's literature project. For this project we had to analyze a book and write a paper. As boring as that may sound it was actually pretty interesting!

Then finally there was the rematch of the year. Yes, we lost to St. Mary's the first time around, but not the second! Lest you think no UIW students showed up to St. Mary's, we had a whole section. Our school spirit was not stunted by the change of location. The only thing missing was our famous cardinal bird to help us cheer our basketball players on. He will be there for us next time though.

Well I must be off back to the books, but I hope you guys have a good rest of the week and a great weekend!

Back to school!!!!

Wow what a break! It was very restful and I'm ready for another semester. It feels very strange to come back to school after being gone so long. When I got back to UIW on Sunday I had to go to the store for some school supplies. When I came back it felt so weird. I felt like I should be walking through the front door of my house, instead of my dorm.  O well its all an adjustment and one always build strong friendships here. Before you know it you have a family away from your family.
It did not take long for things to pick up here at UIW. We already have a big game against St. Mary's (our biggest rival) on January 21. It is a big deal here, people paint themselves red and black. Its equally amusing  to watch the people as well as the game. We make sure we support our team in every way possible. Last year we won this game so hopefully we will be able to continue our winning streak!
I am really excited about this semester because I have just changed my major to English. It is hard, but I found out, after many major changes.., that English is really what I love to do. Choosing a major can be a tough thing, but never be afraid to try new things. It takes time to figure out just what it is you want to do. Now is the time to make your mistakes. Trust me I have changed my major 5 times. The people in the advising office know my name... But at least for now I am satisfied and ready for whatever this semester brings.
Well I must be off to bed. I just finished studying for a quiz tomorrow. I know its a bit crazy to have a quiz the first week, but I'm sure I will be better for it. Have a good day everyone and good luck with your college hunting!!

ahh.. fall break

I can hardly believe that it is almost the end of October! It seems like just yesterday that I was hauling my stuff into my room and trying to get all my books. This semester so far has been great though. I live in Hillside, which is awesome. Though, it can be a little challenging waking up 15 minutes before class instead of 2 minutes. I think I will survive though.
My classes have been challenging, but that is part of progressing through college. My fellow army cadets take chemistry with me so they are always making sure that I'm in class. It helps to take classes with friends, any kind of support system is good. They also like to get on my back about not going to PT, but sometimes 5am just isn't in the picture for my day.
I am a student ambassador and we just got back from our retreat. It was so fun. We went to concan, Texas and i thought that it would be kind of lame, but it wasn't. We stayed there for the weekend and  swam in the lake, played volleyball, and team building. It was a really good way to get all of the student ambassadors to bond together.  Being in an organization has opened up so many opportunities and the people are so awesome. I completely recommend being involved in one.
Well I think that I should probably go study for my chemistry test. Yes it is fall break, but I have to do what I have to do. Have a good weekend everyone!
