I am ready to start a new chapter in my life! I arrived at UIW campus and moved into my new Joeris room this past Monday, and, I promise you, I have been busy since. This week I had training for campus ministry and for residence life. Sometimes training can get dull when you go through rules and regulations, but I had an amazing time this week! Maybe it was just the excitement of being back and meeting the new teams, but I am pumped up and ready to serve the students of Incarnate Word. I was nervous coming back to campus, because I knew that there would be lots of new people who had a semester of routine under their belt. That wasn’t the case at all. All of the new people embraced me, and I had a great time getting to know everyone. I got to see Dr. Barnes, my advisor, and we talked all about my adventures. I am getting back involved with our Anti-Death penalty student group, and I am excited to see all the progress they have made. Also, as a perfect way to end the week, I got to go to the Brad Paisley concert last night with my friends! My best friend won four front row tickets, and we were invited to stand right in front of the stage! Brad Paisley, the guitarist, and the violinist all came up to serenade us during the concert. We all got Brad Paisley guitar picks from the stage, and we got to be on the giant screen. It was the best girls night ever! Next to us what a three and a half year old little boy who was the youngest and most committed fan that I have ever seen. He was singing away throughout the entire concert, and at the end, Brad gave him his cowboy hat. It was absolutely adorable! That’s when we realized that next time we need to bring a little kid with us, because they got to meet Brad Paisley after the concert. I still have some unpacking to do here in my room, but the bulk is finished. I love my room, and I feel so at home here. I never thought I would feel this comfortable outside of Colbert hall, but I guess everyone has to face change, right? Tonight I am headed out to the Quarry which I so desperately miss for dinner and a last hoorah before school starts. I am actually on duty this weekend, so I am really hitting the ground running. I am excited to make my first passive and start planning my first event. This past few days has been exciting between residence life and campus ministry, so I can’t wait until everyone moves back on campus this weekend!
