Tonight was my first active back as an RA. I work over in Joeris hall with seven other RAs, and we decided to do our first event together with the entire building. Our friend let us borrow a fire pit, and we got brush and wood from the path at school to start up a fire. Our senior RA was more than happy to spray lighter fluid every time that the fire seemed to dwindle. I lit about three marshmallows on fire and filled up my stomach before I decided that I needed to stop eating chocolate. We had some pretty sweet handouts created by yours truly. Our whole event was about spreading love, so we had suggestions for being the best roommate or suitemate that you could be. Also, if you have not read this poem yet, you should def check out “OUR DEEPEST FEAR.” I think it is a beautiful way to live life. It’s not until we are the best version of ourselves that we can have the greatest impact on others. Ok, I am not going to rewrite the whole thing, but it is something I highly recommend. We had a wall to write about how we show others that we care, and we went crazy with it. In our resident life staff team this week our theme is random acts of kindness. You truly don’t know how much of an impact your random act of kindness can have. That’s what we kept in mind while writing how we show others that we care, so we came up with the most creative ways we could use to spread the love through our halls. I was glad our residents got into it. We have some passive projects coming up, and I really hope that our residents get involved with that as well! I am stoked! We also had chocolate covered strawberries and hot chocolate. The night was def full of sweets! No worries though, we got to dance off the calories as one of the RAs acted as DJ. It was a fun night with over a hundred residents, so that was pretty awesome! For our first active of the year, we had an incredible turnout! I am now off to try and brainstorm for our upcoming events. We are going to try and get as many people as we can involved with the 24 hour Prayathon coming up next month!
