Today was my very first Zumba class back. Mara took me to the studio this morning for a Saturday workout. The entire room was packed with people who wanted to jam out. It was also awesome to be in an environment with so much Latin music. When it came on, we started to move! The most important part about zumba is that you get into it! You move your body, even if you can’t do every move perfectly. Unfortunately, we did a lot of squats, and I didn’t realize how that would end up affecting me. By the end of the class, my legs were on fire! I came back to the dorm and just sat on the floor stretching for what seemed like forever. Later this evening I went to the cafeteria for the first time. It was so much fun eating with all of the RAs. Usually people are very critical of cafeteria food, and I was really nervous considering that I am a vegetarian now. However, I walked in to find all sorts of vegetables and fruit salads. I am so happy! I had a honey and banana sandwich and lots of fruit. It was absolutely delicious. Now, I am on my very first duty night of the New Year. I know I have said I am kind of nerdy when it comes to my residents, and that was no different tonight. I am the new RA in my dorm, so my girls don’t know who I am. I went around to every room knocking and introducing myself. I am really excited about getting to know all the girls. I am hoping to start a faith sharing group on our floor, and I am very excited about that! I am about to pass off the book Rediscovering Catholicism to a friend, so I will have someone to talk about it with. I have felt so empowered and inspired reading that book. My next challenge is Twilight in Spanish. My boss and friends around campus have been holding me accountable with my Spanish, so this should be a great experience! Tomorrow I am going to a Spanish parish, and I hope to meet a lot of new people there as well. This semester is going to be amazing!
