Laura lived in my dorm last year as a freshman and this year she is living in Hillside Two on another floor. I live on the top floor with freshmen girls, but the rest of the building is upperclassmen. It has been amazing having her around, because she has brought the enthusiasm of our Colbert dorm last year. Though people may gripe about community bathrooms, it truly brings people out of their rooms to meet each other. Here in Hillside Two where each room has their own bathroom, it is hard to get girls out of their room. Laura is here to help! She knows some freshmen girls on the floor, and she is constantly getting them pumped for my events. She comes out and talks up Residence Life for everyone on the floor. She has almost been the middle man in helping me create a comfortable environment on the floor. Now my residents are coming to me to talk and hang out. They are also coming out of their rooms and hanging out with us in the Hillside Two lounge. Laura and my friend Justin actually just helped me fill up a wall in the building with information about the upcoming 24 Hour Prayathon. We had so much fun! We had little hands cut out along with information about all of the events. The hall is colorful now!! I am hoping this will get residents pumped and excited!! Hopefully I can get some people from the building to volunteer so we can continue creating bonds outside of the dorms.
