Hey there guys!! I am a resident assistant for Colbert Hall, which is an all freshman girls dorm on the top of the Administration Building. Though people like to complain that we have community bathrooms, we have the largest dorm rooms on campus and the set up to be a completely interactive hall. My girls are always doing something! A few weeks ago the girls were feeling under the weather, so we had a movie/soup night in the lounge. Everyone curled up with warm broth to John Tucker Must Die! Then over the weekend we played Apples to Apples for hours! Which is also when Hannah decided we should dress up as apples for Halloween! Haha, some other girls want to get together as the Spice Girls!
Being an all girls hall, security is key!!! You have to swipe your ID card to get into each hall and guests must be escorted at all times. Freshman dorms also have curfew. No guests allowed after midnight on a school night and one am on the weekends. Living on campus is such an amazing experience! I would definetely suggest it to anyone! Living in a community of residents helps the adjustment to college life and it is a great way to meet new people and learn about the different organizations to get involved with!
However, the reason for my blog tonight is to tell you about MY amazing residents! I have soooo many talented girls! I have Jamie, Maddie, Jessica, Katie, and Melissa on the swim team. Hannah is on our incredible synchro team. Anabel is on the UIW dance team. Jenn plays outfield for our softball team. Two of my girls sing in the choir. The list goes on and on. Plus, they are so good about meeting each other and keeping everyone involved with our activities, including random dance parties in our hall!
The next activity we are going to do is a game of figuring out each others' personalities. I am giving a profile sheet to every girl to fill out, and once those are finished I am going to post them all up on one of our walls. Then I am going to give all 29 girls a picture of one of the other girls and they will have a week to figure out which profile matches the picture and post it correctly on the wall.
There are always fun events going on in the dorms on campus, so expect more stories about my 29 unique freshmen girls.
