Our Last Overnighter 4 the Semester

This past weekend was our last overnighter for the semester, and it went very well. We had a bunch of students come out to check out the campus, and there were many interested individuals that stood out to me. I had a lot of fun meting the visitors as always, but most of all I honesty love meeting the parents the most. Every time I meet a family I enjoy talking to the parents because I can really see how concerned they are about their child and how imperative their child’s education is. In many ways the parents I meet kind of remind me of my mother which and honestly makes me feel a little home sick. Any who, I look forward to working the orientations this summer so I can get to know more students, make them feel at home, and give them a better understanding of what we are about here at the university.

A Busy Week..

A busy week indeed…Last week I was busy in all of my classes preparing for quizzes and tests that I will be taking this week. I had a lot of business to take care of with the Car club that I am in down in Corpus, and I had some things that I had to prepare for my ceremony on Thursday. Last Thursday night was the pinning ceremony for the new pledges to Chi Phi, I had a lot of fun being with my friends, and I am thankful for being able to be given the opportunity to be a part of something great. Other than that school is going alright for the most part, and even though it still feels early in the semester, mid terms are lurking right around the corner. Guess we will just have to see how the rest of the semester will go!

Love Is In the Air

Love is in the air…Today is Valentine’s Day and there are happy people just about everywhere. All over campus people are walking around with smiles on their faces, candy in their hand, and books in the other. Throughout this week different organizations have been getting together to take carnation orders and today I was able to see just how many happy faces were produced thanks to their efforts. There are many people who have lovers and there are many who do not have significant others, but with all the bonds that many of the students here share, in truth you don’t even need a boyfriend/ girlfriend. I personally love Valentine’s Day because I’m a pretty romantic person myself and I love to put smiles on faces. So whether you are a Valentine’s Day fan or not I would like to wish everyone a HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY, and a great weekend.

P.S. (if someone is looking for a good last minute Valentine quote i found this one)

"If I could reach up and hold a star for every time you've made me smile, the entire evening sky would be in the palm of my hand."

Rush Week

This past week was “Rush Week” at the university. This is a time for students interested in becoming a part the Greek life society to involve themselves in different activities going on around campus. Each fraternity and sorority held different events for people to go out to in order to get to know each other better. Greek life gives students the opportunity to build closer and stronger friendships with other fellow students, while building a strong foundation for one‘s self. I myself soon might become a part of a fraternity to truly see what the experience is like. There are many different organizations in which to involve yourself in here at the university, I highly recommend getting involved in at least one; you meet more people, the more you do the better your resume look, and it’s a lot of fun.

Laser Quest?

We had our third overnighter for the year this past weekend. This time around was different from previous ones in the sense that there were different events and a lot more involvement. One of the new events involving all of the visitors, the hosts, and Students Ambassadors was a trip to Laser Quest. To some this may sound childish but in truth everyone had an awesome time playing laser tag, and on that you can trust me. I had a great time this weekend, the visitor I had was great, and being able to work with everyone was fun. I think that any student interested in coming to school here at the University of the Incarnate Word should most definitely attend one of our overnighters.

Back to school

Well guys we are in the third week of school and I am finally getting readjusted. This semester I have began taking classes necessary for my business major as well as several other classes. If a may make any recommendations; if you are ever going to take Comp I or Comp II, I highly recommend either Dr. Baynton or Professor Harding, they are amazing people and I feel really at home in their Composition classes. Judging from my short experience here at the University of the Incarnate Word, I can already say that this school, in my opinion has amazing professors who are always willing to help you, not only with school work but with any problems that you may have. I love my professors, and I am looking forward to seeing how this semester is going to go.

Inspiration

Treasure every moment,  because yesterday is history.

Tomorrow is mystery, and today is a gift.

That's why it's called the present, learn from the past!

School has been going really good and lately I have really seen how well my high school prepared me for the road ahead. I love my professors, I love the environment that I am in, and I really enjoy The University of Incarnate Word as a whole.

The Overnighter

Hey there everyone,

This past weekend was our overnighter which was a lot of fun and turned out to be very successful. Sunday was a busy day for the student ambassadors and all the visitors, but it was great. I liked being a part of this overnighter because it reminded me of how I felt when I was looking at colleges. I actually had the privilege of having a visitor over that night, who was a great person. He reminded me a lot of myself when I was still uncertain of where I wanted to go to school. I enjoyed being able to have those one on one conversations with him and many others because it made me feel like I was giving them the warm welcoming that our school is famous for.  Overall the students that attended were really involved and seemed to have had fun. I look forward to the Open house this weekend and I am eager to see how this event will turn out.
